It has indeed influenced me...

The first hand accounts of PuristSPro users of various watches have indeed influenced my purchasing decisions.
For instance, F.P. Journe used to be among one of the more popular forums on PuristSPro. And I was personally a big fan of the watch, the design, and the craftsmanship. I still am. However, the reliability comments made on PuristSPro (which continue in your post) have made me more wary about procuring one. Even today, the F.P. Journe Ruthenium Tourbillon is still one of my favorite tourbillon watches (and I wouldn't call myself a fan of tourbillons), but the reliability concerns make me worry about cost of ownership.
In general, my CORE tastes and preferences have not changed over the past 5 years dramatically. However, my knowledge and understanding has grown thanks to the wonderfully informative individuals on PuristSPro such as yourself Horo who have been generous to provide first-hand accounts of their experiences. Also, outside of my "CORE" tastes and preferences, I've been more accepting to a broader range of watches. I used to be very conservative, only going for more classic watches, but now I realize that a youthful modern watch that may not necessarily become a "classic" in the future can still be a watch that one can derive a tremendous amount of fun from today. For instance, I would not have been as accepting to the Hublot Ferrari watch five years ago, but today, I really believe it'd be a fun watch to own. The IWC Top Gun Doppel Chrono is another fun watch, one that I first looked at in 2007 as a fun "toy" watch, and I've recently learned in 2012 from another PuristSPro member that it has underpinnings from Richard Habring, so surprisingly sometimes these fun watches have better-than-what-you-think movements.
Thank you for the contrasting collage of watches Horo. It's interesting to see how our tastes change and evolve.
