Richard Mille’s ice cool RM055

Dec 02, 2012,13:15 PM

First up, as my host at Belles Montres was Richard, the RM055. At last! I was able to see and hold the RM055. Initially I had been extremely skeptical about a white cased watch. When I saw the RM038, I did not think much of it (if I am honest). However, as we become overdosed on black watches – everyone seems to have one these days! – white will become the new black! Seriously, the watch is beautifully finished, the movement in such a case appears more three dimensional, and is definitely more noticeable on the wrist. As a sports watch, and here I am not just talking about playing golf, but generally as a casual watch it is brilliant. The movement, which is basically the same (but with different plates) as the RM035, has a high degree of finish and is clearly visible. It is a delight to see the moving parts.

but i have to be honest. im getting a bit tired of the black/white or whatever color out there. i do appreciate though the technology and innovation behind these materials but for me personaly i would prefer that wonderful movement of the 55 on a regular ...

pretty awesome

looking watch. the movement looks so simple although it is incredibly complicated to get that affect. i wonder if it 'yellows' over time??

Stunning looking movement nicely suspended....I wouldnt worry too much about it being white, I am sure that there will be various other versions along before too long.

+1

White is trendy but I would rather see this movement in a metal case such as a Ti one...
